<This project is volunteer work done in collaboration with the Municipality of Berbara, Lebanon. They started the Solid Waste Management Project, with the supervision of ByblosEcologia>
Translation: You're raising the future citizen of your country.
Blue bin reads: 'Non-recyclable waste.'
Translation: Recycle, and teach your kids. (Monkey see, monkey do.)
The aim here is simply to push the Lebanese community of Berbara to recycle, reuse and reduce - emphasis on simply. I figured that the best way to get to them is by using their language - diverse in age, gender, social classes. They all share a common ground though: a more rural aspect and lifestyle. Which means: rhymes, well known sayings, catchy puns, vernacular Arabic. This also makes the end result to shareable 'meme' content.
Monkey see, Monkey do, with the theme being recycling (repeated as a pattern)
Donkey see, Donkey do! (Recycling theme present as well)
Our message is targeted to people of all ages, and donkeys too.
'Heshli Barbara' is a double entendre. The original meaning is a saying revolving around a local celebration that resembles Halloween, but involves a girl named Barbara wearing disguises to flee her village. In this context, the second meaning we enforced is that she's fleeing because of all of the garbage in Lebanon, and going to find refuge in Clean Barbara.
Defining the audience narrowed my graphic choices to photographic elements rather than icons, to be more visual and direct, highlighting the element as it is found in real life instead of using a representation of it, to make it as simple as possible. Even the gifs, they show what item goes in what bin: easy visual learning.
YouTube animations.
The animations are all focused on easy Do- It-Yourself tricks and tips to showcase how easy recycling is. Lowering usage directly implies lowering waste, this being one of the project’s aims mentioned by the client.

Unofficial three posters that did not go through for this project, because of target audience analysis ...but I still love them visually and think they deserve a spot.
